    Ow. That’s awful.

But also interesting, in that the Venerator has yet to attack someone that didn’t attack him first, despite Mother Mantis’s order to kill them.

The solution to defeating it may be there, but I don’t see how it would be done. Time will tell, one hopes.

Also, do I get it right that panel five shows the Venerator hit by a projectile from Quarterback, with little to no effect?

I have to hope that he makes it somehow, possibly thanks to Aura, Magnifica or Mentelle (the latter telekinetically whisking him back among the surviving heroes). But I’m not sure he’ll make it.

I’d also like to address two syntax issues.

The simplest one is in the second panel: the text uses “their” about the Migrant’s determiner, but later in the sentence it is said that “it [the Venerator] shatters him”. I’d have expected “them” instead of “him”. But then, I know nothing about the correct way to address a Jovian’s gender.

The other is that the narration switches between past and present tense, and I can’t figure out why. (Since I can’t figure out how the Venerator works, that may well be on purpose, in which case feel free to ignore this part, and of course this whole post.) The first panel’s caption starts with past-tense “Dagon had tried…” and the Venerator’s response, “he erupts in flames” is present tense.

Likewise, the third panel depicts Princess Paragon’s attack in the present tense, but the Venerator’s reaction in the fourth panel is described in the past tense: “It raised a hand […] and turned the beam”. The next sentence has Silverback speaking in the present tense again.

Again, this may be indicative of something I don’t understand yet, and you’re as always free to ignore and delete this post.
