I wonder is QBs powers offered him some protection against being instantly killed like dagon and the traveler were, or if the venerator is just cruel and killed him slowly since he was the last one left
actually i was thinking about it a little bit more and all of the ways it chose to kill the sentries seemed cruel, someone on the last page mentioned that it only reacted after they tried to attack it though so idk.
Also i noticed that on this page mentelle is looking at SB not the venerator, is he straining her powers somehow? he said it was no use straining against the shield before which to me implied it was rock solid, but now hes comparing it to tar, which implies theres some give? I could be reading into it too much tho
Hi! I think I’m the one who mentioned that. And, I’ll add, again here, the Venerator only reacts to Quarterback’s throwing a punch. Its speed and strength seem enough to take the initiative, but it’s left QB a scant seconds of life during which it could have attacked and destroyed him.
And if I may, that’s Aura in the last panel looking at Silverback. Indeed, the aquamarine lines around her hand and SB’s shoulder, head, and throat might indicate strain. Well spotted!
Indeed, Silverback’s power level has been hinted as much higher than one might expect from a rookie superhero who has yet to make it into big leagues such as the Guard or huge ones such as the Pantheon. I’m not sure how he would fare against the Venerator. Maybe we’ll find out.
Aaaand there goes Quarterback’s tentative redemption arc. I’m sad about it.
(Also, the awful piles up and up again.)
I wonder how neither Aura nor Magnifica nor Cry (particularly the latter two, who have means to get everyone’s attention) have ordered retreat. I’d hate for another character to die (yeah, I know, this is now a war, so people die) unnecessarily. The point has been made: the present characters are totally outmatched (with the possible exceptions of Silverback or Snowfall). Now get out! Pretty pretty please!
