Interesting how Quarterback took the lead in the first panel but has been overtaken in the last. I wonder if whatever energy is powering him will have a particular effect on the Venerator since its own energy appears visually similar.
Several ponderings in my mind. I wonder, again, how Cailleach is reacting to the Venerator. Is she welcoming a worthy foe (“AT LAST!”) or quietly cowering in terror?
I also wonder how the people on Jupiter are going to react to Migrant’s upcoming demise.
The characters’ expressions are both very well done and nicely varied. Congratulations on that.
If I have one rare quibble with the art, it’s about Princess Paragon’s stance in the last panel. I can hardly read why she is moving that way and, ahem, the way it highlights her rear end seems to me out of place in a dramatic scene like that.
(Thom Zahler, the immortal author of highly-recommended superhero romance comic Love and Capes, mentioned that one thing a cape is good for on a woman superhero is that it covers one’s rear. It’s not quite a cape Princess Paragon is wearing, but the effect is similar in that regard, isn’t it?)
Once again, Aura is using her powers in a way I can’t understand yet. (Which is fine by me; I’m just underlining the deepening mystery.)
The Venerator looks more involved in the fight now than when he killed TrackStar. Does it sense a bigger challenge? (Which means he may not be *that* invincible?)
Less seriously, I can’t help wonder, in panel two, whether Reptilian is going to bite Aura’s arm so she lets them attack. We’ve always known the lad had quite the big mouth, but this is impressive. (And consistent with what can be seen from some snakes.) (And yeah, now I’m out of place in the dramatic scene. Sorry.)
dang RIP to the sentries, it wouldve been neat to see how their powers worked if they had stuck around. at least the wizard is alive i really want to see her do something cool
You want to know how this is gonna end?
I’mma tell yo how this is gonna end.
It’s gonna end NOT WELL.
