really happy with how this page came together, probably mostly because this is the kinda stuff I love drawin’ the comic FOR hahah
I’ve intro’d a lot of characters during this arc and all without thinking about how I’d handle all of them in action, so hopefully I’ve managed to stick the proverbial landing – it’s hard to find time to give everyone their time to shine without it slowing down the story too much, but thankfully punchin’ these bug-themed buggers in the face IS part of the story hahah
Okay, I’ll come out and say it: this much blood makes me uneasy. I don’t question the realism (it’s entirely possible that in a real fight, there would be even more blood splashing around), but, well, not my taste. I’ll hasten to add that pretty much everything else in this comic is excellent by me, and that you’re of course free to write and draw your own comic the way you feel it should be done.
I’m just going to state that Blackbird using his cape as a blunt weapon would be more efficient by me, since it’ll disable the opposition pretty much as fast and won’t risk getting caught in bone or something. But then, I can totally see him going more for the terrifying aspect than efficience.
That being said, I love that Mentelle and the Migrant worry about helping the civilians.
Calling the three other pairings sounds pretty straightforward, with Conjurer and Altera probably cleaning house too, Princess Paragon and Snowfall kicking butt (and the latter’s ice storms eliciting quite a few “Dayum”s from Paragon Princess), and, of course, Silverback and Quarterback using their strength to help clean up as well because I don’t like seeing four characters who do the cleaning, three of them being women and the fourth being of unspecified gender. Besides, that way they’ll have good reason to stumble upon Lady Orchid.

THANK YOU. This is literally international-scale warfare, and the enemy soldiers are using lethal, military-grade weaponry, including fighter jets and tanks. They *opened* by detonating a massive explosion in a civilian areas, killing LOTS of people.
Treat it as such.
You do have a point. I agree that if the choice is between killing the opposition and risking more deaths, the least wrong option is accepting that the opposition may die. (I still feel Reptilian’s glee disturbing here.)
Now, I hope the terrorists aren’t the kind of fanatics who have let their leaders brainwash them into carrying bombs in their uniform (I assume the surgical procedure to implant such bombs into their body is too time-consuming to use it on a large scale assault like this) that go off when their heart stops. (Remote-activated by the officers, of course.) Yeah, it would kill some of their own as well. Kenny has proved that most grunts of this level don’t seem to think that far. And given the sheer numbers on either side, it strikes me, sadly, as sound strategy (as long as you don’t mind horrendous losses on your own side, but that seems to be a given anyway regarding M.A.N.T.I.S).

Anytime they are using lethal weapons, that’s the right option. It would better for every one of those guys to die than they succeed in killing one more victim.
I get that it’s a comic, but in the real world, all the “extras” being put at risk by stupid stuff like “worrying about not killing the bad guys using automatic weapons on civilians” are actually people. I’d like it if the fiction I consume were to act as if their “extras” were people, too.
