WHERE are they getting all the FORCES to do this?!?!? Much less get them into position *around the world* with stealth!
It’s nuts! This is something like “third largest army on real-world planet Earth” levels of forces.
Having idiots willing to be their cannon fodder… there’s no shortage of that. But the MASSIVE military-grade mechs, the *fleets* of fighter craft (people don’t usually realize how large those actually are), at least SOME actual tanks, all the rifles and _uniforms_…
This is “modern large nation-state” level spending and force projection.
Yeah, there’s going to be some huge explanation at some point. For now, I trust our writer to have set it up in advance. (It would be even better if we realize that he gave us clues about it that we didn’t parse at the time, but I don’t want to ask for too much. I’ll be fine with a convincing explanation.)
If Jonathan Silver is right about M.A.N.T.I.S needing something to start the Venerator, the situation is less critical than he initially thought. (It still is, because mass-scale attack on good guys’ headquarters, but strongly downsized from superhero-genocidal nightmare machine.)
I guess that when he says “all points”, he means “every ally in this one fight”, because it doesn’t make much sense for people defending the headquarters to disengage. But the thought comes to mind, if Jonathan Silver wants to dispatch his on-site allies to the sundry headquarters, will Silverback see that as abandoning Jennie?
Interesting that “nearly all” headquarters have been attacked. I guess M.A.N.T.I.S, overwhelming as they’re looking now, don’t have enough forces to attack them all with a significant chance of winning, but how were the targets decided?
I seem to remember the Royal Guard story featured some of the team’s vault. I’ll have to look it up.
Last, a bit of linguistics.
For those who don’t speak Japanese, “Seigi no shinden” can translate to “Sanctuary(/Shrine/Temple) of Justice”.
For those who don’t speak Italian, “La cattedrale d’onore” can translate to “The cathedral of honor”.
For those who don’t speak Hindi or Bengali, Wikipedia says “Tripura” is the name of a state in India, linked to the goddess Tripura Sundari, in which “Tripura” means “three cities/worlds/realms”. The goddess is also the one who defeated a demon who got Shiva himself to make him nearly invincible. Make of that what you will.
For those who don’t speak English, well, I can’t do much for you here. (Except maybe translating the whole comic, but my very limited time and availability don’t make that likely. Unfortunately.)
