Wow, Kenny comes off as a completely selfish asshole. His friends excuse for being missing for months is having been taken as a hostage by terrorists, and he’s all up in favor of those terrorists? Is he incapable of empathizing with a friend and reexamining his beliefs?

Kenny seems like a potential terrorist recruit, his beliefs are strong enough that rather than reexamine them in light of new facts, he dismisses or at least reexamines the new facts instead. He is well on the path of extreme radicalization at this point.
