They were already surprised by the level of force Mantis managed to bring here… how could they possibly be striking elsewhere in any level of force, as well? THAT level of hidden forces should be ****extremely**** concerning to, well, pretty much everyone.

Indeed, it seems that M.A.N.T.I.S have more resources than the Guard, not to mention the Pantheon, gave them credit for. But then again, they weren’t supposed to be able to hide what resources the heroes were accounting for; it sort of makes sense that they could hide even more.

From Jonathan Silver’s point of view, though, even a Red Army-level muster pales in comparison to the Venerator. So yeah, it makes little sense to commit as much to fights such as this one (I’m assuming that elsewhere, other super-teams are handling the attacks)… unless it’s spare change compared to what they’re about to unleash and they need just a little time to prepare it.

Like: every superhero on the planet is looking for the Venerator. The very second it shows up anywhere, at least a dozen hypersensitive superpeople will notice and direct all forces towards it. But what if everyone has to fight semi-massive attacks such as this one?

I love how Jonathan Silver appears to be calmly pondering the whole strategy in the middle of a fight with countless terrorists.

I’m a bit concerned by the comment that “M.A.N.T.I.S is beneath us”, that implies the Pantheon won’t deign to come fight here. Then again, he’s made that very same point on page Discussion, calling them “Cut-rate neo-fascistic fools”.

What worries me more is his mention that the Pantheon are “attending other matters”. On page Cuppa (the one after Discussion), he had Cassandra clear everyone’s calendars. Unless they all said something to the tune of “sure, give me a minute while I get finished with this” and it took slightly more than a minute? (Also, I checked back: Aura is here too.)

(Okay, I’m a bit surprised to see Silver hold the terrorist with his left hand in the third panel, then his sword in the fourth. We’ve seen that he’s left-handed some pages ago, when he was sparring with Aura, so it still works, though.)
