Y’know, it just strikes me that the Venerator could be described as a machine that makes its master a god. Literally, that master becomes a “deus ex machina”. So it’s rather fitting that another deus ex machina steps in to resolve the issue. (I have the strangest feeling that I’ve seen our mysterious saviour in the Royal Guard story, but I may be mistaken on this.)
Nice to have another Pantheon member named! (By my estimate it’ll be twenty-eight more pages before we get the next one.) I hadn’t noticed (or didn’t remember) that Erebus’s cape has all these little holes near its rim. Somehow they look neat here. (Might they simply be negative Kirby dots?)
Last, things still look epic (that first panel, with Majesty still around) and promise to pick up even more. “Work miracles.”
That’s clearly Elijah Freeman there, so yes, we’ve met him in the Royal Guard story. I guess he only showed himself to Silver, or maybe the Guard story happens after the Venerator War flashback since he doesn’t seem to have been recognized at this point in time if others did see him. As a time traveler his own personal chronology is probably a rat’s nest so who knows when this is happening from his point of view.
Given that you can see the rift energy through the holes in Erebus’ cape, I think those are actual voids in the fabric (or solid shadow or whatever it’s made of) rather than inverted Kirby crackle.
I agree with your second hypothesis that the Venerator War happened before the Royal Guard story on Webtoons, because it’s explicitly said the Guard were relative newcomers during the War, while they look quite experienced in the Webtoons story.
On reflection, full agreement on Elijah Freeman’s chronology and Erebus’s cape.

Thanks for the reminder!
