I also love the large olive guy behind the one in the black coat and hat. And the one swinging on the right side of panel 5 looks like a flairful mix of Spider-Man and Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan), my favourite Marvel character in more than ten years. Oh, and it’s funny to see the guy in grey and light khaki with the helmet and the big gun behind his back; among this array of original designs, he looks like Captain 90s.
All well and good, but let me come back to the plot. Interesting how older Cry looks in panel 3, very different from her other appearances. I guess she’s a bit disappointed too, and maybe she’s starting to have mixed loyalties?
Moving on to panel 5, nothing says Bulldog has *read* the books; he might just have seen the films. Unless in that universe, the books never got adapted?
Last, “thunder”? Along with Cry’s reluctance to say “their” name out loud, that sounds like gods. (Both a religious person and an atheist would be ill at ease with the notion enough not to want to actually use the word.) Likely, Olympian, Norse or Gothic (or possibly Celtic, since I seem to remember there was an important thunder god in that pantheon too)?
The setting’s top dog supergroup is called the Pantheon IIRC. I strongly suspect they’re the ultimate villains of the whole setting in an “it’s for the greater good…as we define it” sort of way. Given how ruthless teh Guard have shown themselves to be, the ethics of of the “insider” superteams are clearly extremely questionable at best, something Silverback is likely to wind up opposing.
Great Writing and drawings, love the art and perspective, but also the topics and speech interactions!
Ah, the classic scene-change-on-a-cliffhanger. We’ll just have to hope Our Hero is up to the situation going on elsewhere.
As for this page, once again a very nice variety of character designs. Is the guy on the left side of panel 1 Médecin sans frontières ? (French flag and red cross mean “French doctor”, right?) Which leads me to wonder if the guy on the left side of panel 5 is Captain Belgium (in English as a compromise between Flemish and Walloon) or Kapitan Bundesland.
